Ricky Martin Brings ‘Livin’ La Vida Loca’ To NFL’s First Rio Game, Joins Pedro Sampaio For New Song
RIO DE JANEIRO — Ricky Martin brought Latin pop to the Maracanã on Sunday, joining Brazilian star Pedro Sampaio for the halftime show at the NFL’s first regular-season game in Rio de Janeiro.
Martin performed “Livin’ La Vida Loca” before the two artists debuted their collaboration “Pikito Pikito.” The set mixed Martin’s pop sound with Sampaio’s Brazilian funk as the Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens met at the landmark stadium.
The appearance marked Martin’s second NFL halftime stage this year. In February, he was a guest during Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX show. Ahead of the Rio game, Martin said he was excited to return to a city he called one of his favorite places in the world.
The NFL has paired its expanding international schedule with live music performances. Rio was the league’s third regular-season game in Brazil, following two in São Paulo, and its first at the Maracanã. On the field, Baltimore beat Dallas 34–31
