The Miami-based executive’s promotion comes as the studio advances its regional slate, including the historical drama ‘Carlota.’

Sony Pictures Television is expanding Carlos Quintanilla Sakar’s leadership role across its Latin American production business.

The studio has promoted Quintanilla Sakar to Senior Vice President & Head of Content and Production, Latin America and U.S. Hispanic, overseeing content strategy, development and production for the regional slate. He remains based in Miami and reports to John Rossiter, Executive Vice President of Distribution, Networks and Production for Latin America.

The appointment recognizes an executive whose responsibilities combine creative development with production oversight. Since joining Sony Pictures Television in 2023, Quintanilla Sakar has supervised titles including Rosario Tijeras, Doc México, Yo No Soy Mendoza, Casados con Hijos and Enloqueciendo Contigo. His work on Rosario Tijeras has included co-creator, writer, creative director and executive producer credits.

A significant project on that slate is Carlota, the studio’s premium historical drama scheduled to debut on HBO Max in 2027. Quintanilla Sakar has played a central role in its development and production.

Sony announced his promotion alongside that of Adriana “Dida” Silva, who becomes Senior Vice President & Managing Director of Floresta, the studio’s Brazilian production company. Silva remains based in São Paulo and also reports to Rossiter.

The paired appointments reflect Sony’s stated emphasis on locally developed programming with international potential. Rossiter credited both executives with strengthening the regional business, pointing to Quintanilla Sakar’s creative ambitions and Silva’s expansion of Floresta’s scripted capabilities alongside its established unscripted operations.

For Quintanilla Sakar, the expanded title formalizes a broader mandate: guiding stories developed for Latin American and U.S. Hispanic audiences while helping position them for viewers beyond their home markets. With Carlota approaching its announced 2027 debut, that strategy has a prominent production moving toward the screen.
