NEW YORK — Elvis Crespo is getting a Bronx homecoming worthy of a Latin music icon.

The New York Yankees welcomed the Grammy-winning Puerto Rican singer to Yankee Stadium this week, presenting Crespo with a personalized Yankees jersey bearing his name — a fitting moment for an artist whose story actually began in the Bronx.

Born in New York and raised in Puerto Rico, Crespo became an international star with his 1998 smash “Suavemente,” a song that helped push merengue further into the global mainstream and remains a Latin party anthem nearly three decades later.

The Yankees shared Crespo’s visit on their official Instagram account, putting another spotlight on the singer’s enduring connection to New York and its massive Latino community.

The appearance comes during a particularly big stretch in the Bronx, with the Yankees hosting longtime rivals the Boston Red Sox this weekend.
