Karol G and Bruno Mars have a hit collaboration, undeniable chemistry and now one of pop music’s biggest unanswered questions: Are they actually dating?
The two Grammy-winning superstars have sent social media into overdrive following a string of increasingly affectionate appearances and posts surrounding their new collaboration, “Still.”
The speculation accelerated after Mars posted a video featuring the song along with the teasing caption, “When all you want is peace but you’re falling for a Latina.” Fans immediately connected the message to Karol G, whose real name is Carolina Giraldo Navarro.
Karol added considerably more fuel to the fire when she shared a carousel of photos showing the pair embracing, celebrating and raising glasses of champagne. Her caption was simply: “BRuno.”
And then came the music video.
Released Wednesday, September 2, the official visual for “Still” captures Karol G and Mars in a series of intimate and playful backstage moments surrounding their August 15 performance at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium. The mostly black-and-white video shows the singers together backstage, riding go-karts and sitting inside the empty stadium before footage transitions to their live performance before more than 50,000 fans.
The collaboration itself carries plenty of romantic weight. “Still,” featured on Karol G’s latest album No Me Arrepiento de Sentir Tanto, is an emotional ballad centered on love, vulnerability and the fear of losing someone. It also represents a significant crossover moment for the Colombian superstar as she ventures further into English-language music.
Of course, there’s another possibility: two enormously successful entertainers know exactly how to promote a love song.
The affectionate photographs, Mars’ cryptic Latina comment and their obvious chemistry arrived just as anticipation was building for the “Still” video, leading some fans to wonder whether pop music’s newest romance might actually be a very well-orchestrated promotional campaign.
For now, neither Karol G nor Bruno Mars has publicly confirmed that they are romantically involved.
But they haven’t exactly rushed to kill the rumors either.
Whether “Still” marks the beginning of a real-life romance or simply two superstars having fun with the speculation, Karol G and Bruno Mars have managed to turn their collaboration into something bigger than another duet.
And until one of them says otherwise, the question remains: Is Karol G Bruno Mars’ mystery Latina — or are they simply very good at selling a love song?
