Camila Morrone is heading to Miami Vice ’85.

The Argentine-American actress has joined the growing cast of the upcoming feature, adding another notable name to one of Hollywood’s most closely watched reimaginings of the iconic Miami crime franchise.

Morrone joins Austin Butler, who is set to play Sonny Crockett, and Michael B. Jordan as Rico Tubbs. Alden Ehrenreich and Whitney Peak are also among the cast. Details surrounding Morrone’s role are being kept under wraps, though reports indicate she participated in chemistry testing with Butler before landing the part.

The casting gives the project additional Latino representation through Morrone, who was born in Los Angeles to Argentine parents and grew up immersed in Argentine culture.

Morrone has steadily built her dramatic résumé in recent years, earning acclaim and an Emmy nomination for her performance as Camila Alvarez in Amazon’s Daisy Jones & The Six. Her film credits include Mickey 17, Gonzo Girl and Never Goin’ Back.

Miami Vice ’85 revisits the neon-soaked world made famous by the landmark 1980s television series, which starred Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas as undercover Miami detectives Crockett and Tubbs.

With Butler, Jordan and now Morrone aboard, the new Miami Vice is shaping up as one of the more star-driven reboots currently on Hollywood’s slate — with plenty of attention likely to follow as the production gets closer to cameras rolling.
