Becky G and Tokischa Join Gina Rodriguez’s ‘House Of Guerrero’ Boxing Drama

Becky G and Tokischa are stepping into Gina Rodriguez’s House of Guerrero, joining a Latino ensemble that includes Carlos Sanson Jr., Rosario Dawson and George Lopez. The boxing drama marks Rodriguez’s feature directorial debut, with production underway in Los Angeles and California’s Imperial Valley.
Becky G will play Maya Alvarado, the on-again, off-again love interest of Alex Guerrero, portrayed by Sanson. Tokischa makes her film acting debut as Xochitl Romero, Maya’s fiercely protective best friend. Billboard first reported the casting additions October 9.
Rooted in Latino boxing culture, the film follows a former boxer attempting to reclaim the career and life that once seemed within reach. Rodriguez also appears as Alex’s older sister, Paloma Guerrero, alongside Lopez as his father, Alejandro, and Dawson as his mother, Elsa. The family story places Latino characters at the center of a sports genre built around ambition, sacrifice and second chances.
For Becky G, the project extends a screen résumé that includes Power Rangers and a voice role in Blue Beetle. For Dominican artist Tokischa, it opens a new chapter beyond music. Rodriguez praised the performers’ chemistry in a statement, calling them “a dazzling pair.”
The production brings together Wayfarer Studios, 1Community and Rodriguez’s I Can And I Will Productions. Producers include Scott Budnick, Ameet Shukla, Rodriguez, Molly Breeskin, Justin Baldoni and Andrew Calof. UTA Independent Film Group is handling worldwide sales.
The film will also have a Miami Beach presence this month: Tokischa, Sanson and Budnick are scheduled to discuss the project during the “Film and Music” panel at Billboard Latin Music Week, running October 19–22 at Faena Forum. A release date has not yet been announced.
